Differentiated Instruction

It is my goal to reach all levels of learners and multiple learning styles. In as many cases as possible, I prefer to give students choice in showing mastery of concepts. Here are a couple of examples:

By having "anchor activities" available, students could choose assignments set to their levels and complete at individual paces.  These activities are especially good for any time in the classroom when students are working in pairs or groups, or individual conferences are being held with the teacher.  Not only are students working on essential skills but there is no downtime for any student, thus serving as a classroom management tool as well.

Students at SEBMS participated in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program.  Tests were available over books read but were typically short and multiple choice (and not always appropriate for higher level students).  I implemented reading logs to serve as a way for students to exhibit reading comprehension on a higher level while practicing writing skills as well.
